Cinnober Teater
”We perform fresh compositions, without leaning against a performing tradition. We perform dramas that are yet to become classics. We perform tough, dramatized prose texts.” These are the words of the Cinnober Teater on their web pages, forming quite a programmatic statement. Based in Gothenburg, the theatre collective is run as an association, without a permanent stage or ensemble.
”To us, the author, the playwright, is the one taking the first step towards renewal within the dramatic art, ” is yet another of Cinnober’s statements. In Norway, the ensemble is though perhaps best known for music theatre. During last year’s Ultima, the theatre performed Mera by Maria Tryti Vennerød at the Black Box Theatre. The Norwegian Ensemble Ning also performed in the production.
In 2006, Ultima enjoyed another successful visit from Sweden. This time it was the music theatre version of Jon Fosse’s Suzannah, about the wife of Henrik Ibsen, which was performed at the Black Box.
