About Ultima

Ultima is a festival for boundary-pushing sonic experiences. With an ear to the present, the festival embraces innovative music, community, and the sound of a world in constant change.

Every September, Ultima takes over Oslo with ten days of concerts, installations, theatre, opera, dance, film, talks and more – for adults, young people and children alike.

The programme spans a wide range, from classical contemporary music to noise, improvisation, folk, jazz and rock, and unfolds across stages, museums, clubs, streets and other unexpected venues throughout the city.

Ultima is created in collaboration with the members of the Ultima Foundation, as well as artistic and musical communities in Norway and internationally. The festival is supported by the Arts Council Norway and Oslo City Council. His Royal Highness Crown Prince Haakon Magnus is the festival’s official patron.

Members

The Ultima Foundation has a council comprising 18 members. Their efforts and contributions make it possible to arrange Ultima and to make it such a successful festival of contemporary music year after year.
