Listening club Classic Album Sundays comes to Ultima for the second year running, this time to the audiophile club Gehør, located in the former Nomaden Club and Khartoum Contemporary Art Center. The audience is invited to listening to a classic album from start to finish, on a top notch audiophile stereo system. Guests with a connection to the music discuss and tell stories behind the record. Audience members can also chip in.
Tonight we present the Pullizer-Award winning solo album Anthracite Fields (2015) by composer Julia Wolfe, closely connected to the oratorio Fire in my mouth being performed at this year’s Ultima on 19 September. Wolfe herself will be in conversation with CAS’s resident Oslo host Kent Erlend Horne. Wolfe was an original founder of the new music ensemble Bang On A Can and is a leading figure in New York’s downtown avantgarde scene.
