Den Norske Opera & Ballett

Norway's first opera house, opened in 2008 and designed by Snøhetta. The building has received many awards and recived international attention, establishing itself as one of Norway's top tourist attractions.

How to get there:
Public Transport:
Several buses, trams, and the underground train stop in the vicinity of Central Station, Tollboden, and Bjørvika.
Parking: In Operagata. Three accessible parking spaces on Operagaten, about 150 metres from the marble bridge leading to the Opera House.

  • Accessibility: The route from the parking area to the building is step-free for wheelchair access. Automatic door openers, lifts in the building. Handrails in the stairways.
  • Toilets: Accessible toilet, clearly marked. Toilets are located in the foyer and on the balconies.
  • Seating: Yes.
  • Signage: Fire alarms are detectable by both visually and hearing-impaired individuals.
    Stairs in the halls are marked with lights but are not slip-resistant.
    Glass doors and other exposed areas are marked.
    Information signs are placed to avoid collisions.
    Emergency exits are clearly marked and adapted for wheelchair users.
  • Interpreter and Hearing Loop: An interpreter service is not available. Hearing loop is available (does not work in the side sections or the back rows of the orchestra).
  • Tickets: Companion certificates are accepted, but companion tickets cannot be ordered online. Companions may sit next to the person they are accompanying.
