Thoughts Unsaid, Then Forgotten (2024, WP) is a new work by freeform pianist and electronic musician Anja Lauvdal. Playing alone, Lauvdal gives herself total freedom, bounded only by whatever conceptual framework she chooses for the occasion. For this special evening she will dig deeper into the electroacoustic forms she explored on recent albums From a Story Now Lost and Farewell to Faraway Friends (both released on Smalltown Supersound). Her commissioned work will be accompanied by light and images by light designer Joffe Myrvold and visual artist Signe Fuglesteg Luksengard.
Over the years she has developed an evocative keyboard style and a rare ability to conjure multiple sonic moods, reflecting on the fragility of the natural world. She has taken part in many different projects in jazz, improvised music and pop, including as a member of groups such as Moskus, Skadedyr, Cosmic River and Broen. By now Lauvdal is an established force on the Norwegian scene, running the All Ears festival and collaborating with Jenny Hval, Sanskriti Shrestha, Hamid Drake and William Parker among others.
