Writer Bodil Maroni Jensen has dedicated over 30 years to contemporary music journalism at NRK, motivated by a deep commitment to telling the stories of our present time.

Stemmer i samtidsmusikken (Voices in Contemporary Music) is a collection of her interviews with composers from different generations, including Cecilie Ore, Lars Petter Hagen, Magnar Åm, Gisle Kverndokk, Rebecka Ahvenniemi, Kristine Tjøgersen, Anna Berg, Tine Surel Lange, Ståle Kleiberg and Bendik Sells. In these often personal interviews, they discuss their working methods, musical upbringing, public recognition, and their relationships to institutions, listeners and places. The result is a panorama of Norwegian musical life over the past fifty years. What shines through is the composers’ incessant quest for a musicality far removed from classical ideals of perfection, while also becoming mindful of their social responsibility as artists.

The event will be introduced by Gunnar Totland from Solum Bokvennen and will include contributions by composers Cecilie Ore, Magnar Åm, Anna Berg, Øyvind Mæland, Ultima director Heloisa Amaral and Ultima Context coordinator Torunn Forland Bjella.

NB. The event will be held in Norwegian.
