Music Norway I Export:Session

Electronic Art

Friday 11 September, at 11:00–15:00
Free

Electronic music is expanding fast, with new festivals, cross-disciplinary work and technologies constantly reshaping who makes it and how it reaches audiences. But international careers in this field are hard to build and harder to sustain. How do artists develop lasting international practices in a shifting landscape? Which platforms, networks and collaborations actually matter?

Music Norway is the Norwegian music industry's export organisation. EXPORT: SESSIONS is its seminar series, connecting the Norwegian music industry with the knowledge and international perspective needed to succeed abroad. In this edition, Music Norway, Ultima and MUNCH bring together artists, curators and programmers to examine the opportunities and challenges of the international electronic art music scene.

The first half takes the artists' perspective, with two artists from this year's Ultima programme, Lasse Marhaug and Svetlana Maraš, in conversation about practice, collaboration and international careers.

The second half turns to those who present the work, with a keynote from Kate Nordstrum of Liquid Music on new frameworks for developing and presenting contemporary music, followed by a panel with programmers from Rewire, Sonica and beyond.

The day closes with a concert by Niilas, whose work moves between club music, sound art and performance, shaped by Arctic aesthetics and his Sámi heritage.

Attendance is free, but registration is required via Music Norway's homepage. The event will be held in English.
