Terra Incognita

Ørjan Matre & Erlend Apneseth I BIT20 Ensemble I Erlend Apneseth Trio

Friday, 20 September, at 19:30–20:30
200–300 kr

Terra Incognita (2024, WP) is the latest of several collaborations between Hardanger fiddle innovator Erlend Apneseth and composer Ørjan Matre. Both artists work at the intersection of innovation and tradition. Apneseth’s inventive trio combines the sounds of Norwegian folk music, jazz and electronica. Here they play with the BIT20 Ensemble for the first time, responding to material Matre has composed based on sound files sent to him by Apneseth.

Drawing on archival recordings of Norwegian folk music, including the religious song ‘Alt forvandles skal til støv’ (All things shall turn to dust), Terra Incognita is a space for new discoveries and possibilities, where modern composition meets folk music and improvisations. The stage is set for a unique musical experience in uncharted terrain.

NB. This concert can be combined with Shovel Dance Collective, also at Rikscenen, 19.30. Check here for reduced ticket prices.
