Live Maria Roggen I Ingfrid Breie Nyhus I Morten Qvenild

Saturday, 14 September, at 18:00–18:50

Can you hear what once was? (un)Romantic presents new interpretations of works by Richard Strauss, Alma Mahler, Sergei Rachmaninov, Richard Wagner and Gustav Mahler, deconstructed and rearranged by vocalist Live Maria Roggen and pianist Ingfrid Breie Nyhus.

These works, full of longing, yearning and heartbreak, are further expanded by the inclusion of poems by Emily Dickinson (in Norwegian translations) reinterpreted by current Norwegian poet Tone Hødnebø. The texts are fed into a sound world of improvised interaction between Roggen/Nyhus and Morten Qvenild's electronics. In the process, the distance between old and new collapses.
