Come and play Table Book, an instrument that is also a composition!
Table Book looks like a table, but it's really full of sounds. Spread across it are all kinds of objects you can tap, rub, pluck and press, wired up to electronics that transform the sounds you make.
The piece is inspired by old "table books" from the 16th and 17th centuries, when music was printed facing different directions on a single sheet so that players could sit around a table and make music together. Composer Svetlana Maraš has turned that old idea into a modern electronic instrument, where you listen, and work together to create new sounds.
Together with musicians Roberto Maqueda and Miguel Ángel García Martín (12 and 13 September) and Svetlana Maraš (19 September), you get to try everything yourself, learn how the instrument works, and help create and perform your own music. No experience needed, just the will to explore!
