Dusk Meditations I

Oslo Domkor I Therese Ulvo I Luis Fernando Amaya

Saturday, 21 September, at 19:30–20:15
100–200 kr

Oslo Domkor performs two works with a theme of care and empathy for nature and the non-human beings who share our planet.

In Dialecto de Árbol no. 6 (2023-2024), Luis Fernando Amaya imagines the kind of ‘dialects’ which might be spoken by trees and plants if they could communicate through sounds. In Therese Birkelund Ulvo’s Langsomt ble landet vårt eget (Slowly the Land Became Ours, 2020), the composer draws inspiration from quotes by Norwegian writers. Poet Nordahl Grieg supplies the work’s title, which for Ulvo asks questions about what right we have to make decisions that affect the climate for future generations. Both composers address crucial questions about the fate of the planet, and of humanity.

Therese Birkelund Ulvo has been awarded this year’s Arne Nordheim Composer Prize, which will be presented during this concert. The concert will be followed by a recital of organ music by Phill Niblock – details here.
